As the skin around your eyes begins to age it can make you look tired, even when you feel energized. If your eyes are aging you or making you look less than your best an eye lift can help you look younger, rested and relaxed. Here is what you need to know about blepharoplasty, also known as an eye lift—upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both!
What Can I Do About My Tired, Sagging And Puffy Under Eye Bags?
Our eyes aren’t just the window to our soul but they play a vital role in communication. We look others in the eye when we talk, but we don’t want our tired, sagging and puffy eyes to send a less than desirable message. If your lower eyelids have excess skin, fat pockets below the eye, hollow or dark circles, or your droop lower lids cause the whites of your iris to show—eyelid surgery can resolve these issues. The lower eyelid surgery is called a “lower eyelid blepharoplasty”.
How Can Eyelid Surgery Help With Drooping Upper Eyelids?
The upper eyelid surgery removes a strip of skin on the upper eyelids, and hides the scar in the natural fold of your eye. Generally, this scar is barely visible with time and heals quite well. The upper eyelid surgery does not change the position of the eyebrows—so if your eyebrows are very droopy, a brow lift may be a good option in addition to the upper eyelid surgery. The upper eyelid surgery is called an “upper eyelid blepharoplasty”.
How Long Is Eye Lift Surgery Recovery Time?
An eye lift is a minimally invasive surgery with a quick recovery time. You will need someone to drive you home and will need to ice and rest your eyes for the next 24 hours, but you can typically be back to work in a few days. You will have bruising (a black eye!) for a week or two on average. Pain is minimal, and an ice pack generally helps with the discomfort. Stitches are removed in about 5 days, and you can shower the day after surgery. Physical activity can return to normal in 2 weeks.
If you live in or around Scottsdale, AZ and are looking for a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to eliminate your drooping eyelids we invite you to meet with Dr. Deborah Bash. She will meet with you one-on-one during your consultation to discuss if eye lift is the best way to rejuvenate your eyes!
